What is barter?

Everyone is familiar with the concept of barter.  In the  past that may have been the only way to make transactions.   The farmer may need to have equipment repaired and the blacksmith could use the produce that the farmer had.  Problems could arise when one of the parties did not need to make a trade or the trade was not equal.

Eventually someone came up with coins made with precious metals like Silver or Gold.   Coins became a universal method to complete the  transaction.   A universal value could be set for most transactions.

Barter in it's earliest form is still in use today.  Barter has also been established in a more formal format with organized barter for safe transactions where everyone wins.

There are good reasons for using barter as well as for using currency for transactions.

What really is barter today?

It really is The Trading Community using the Cashless Market place.
